first day of school

well, as you all should know, today was the first day of school in 2007. i mean, that was rather obvious wasnt it...
anyway, i went to school rather early today, reached there like 6:45am. i was expecting to be the first of 2.12 there, but lo and behold, sammy wammy was there. he hadnt bothered to get the class key (that lazy slacker), so he was like forcing me to go, which i profusely refused of course, i mean, why do an errand when you can force him to do it?
so after a while of stupid verbal battle, which samuel was losing badly, eugene came along. lucky for samuel, or i would have slaughtered him easily. so he quickly asked eugene to get the key, and being the nice guy that he is, eugene readily agreed to get the key, but forced me to accompany him... meh. but eugene is really good company to have, so why not? he's real fun to chat with anyway
anyway, it was fun walking around the school again, i mean, since we spend so much time there, and we have so many friends there, its kinda like second home. i was just running around, while eugene was talking about being light-footed while running... like what's that all about... lol
well we went to estate office, where the keys usually are kept, but for some reason they were at the general office... oh wells. well we got the key and eugene was particular about saying 'happy new year' to every teacher that he saw, though none really even acknowledged the greeting...
we ran back to the class (with eugene almost going back to the 1.12 classroom), and samuel was waiting for us there expectantly. must have been boring just waiting... well anyway since we were the first in, we quickly grabbed our seats. sammy chose one in the exact same position as the one he had last year, while eugene got a seat right in front of the teacher's desk and i took the one right next to him.
then of course the students started filling into the class. the only point worth noting here, is that gabriel was initially supposed to be in 2.13, but he had appealed to be transfered back to our class, and presumably, it had gone through! well it was well received by me, cos gabriel's a pretty fun guy to have around.
well after a while, i decided i dint wanna sit at the very first row, since i would be so close to the teacher. otherwise, i wouldnt be able to slack... cos the teacher would be like watching. so i moved 1 row back, and ended up sitting next to adriel, in front of nick who was next to derek (pretty obvious, since they're like always together. dont know why they deny they're best friends though...)
well after all the small little reunion greetings were said, we had to go for assembly at the huge parade square. the place where my class is was rather erm... how does one describe it... well it isnt exactly ideal... anyway, i met theodore from church, and he asked me for like the 3rd time what class i was in... i cant believe how poor his memory is! i mean, how hard is it to remember 1 single number, especially when i had just told him yesterday!
when assembly was over, it was back to class and class admin time. we met our ct and pct (who i wouldnt really say are 'all that') and got our time table first. theres this new weird thing called 'white space' in the time table... supposed to be meant for makeup lessons and stuff like that. i'm sure mrs panthradil would have loved it if she were still there.
then came the moment most people had been waiting for: electing of class committee. at first, she asked for anyone who felt they were capable of holding a post in the class comm to write their name on the board. only after a super long time, kenneth went up and wrote his name. but he was the only one. so then, she opened up nomination of other people, and stupid jeng yang had to nominate me immediately ): . some guy nominated eugene as a joke, then kenneth nominated samuel, another person nominated qin xiang, nick nominated brian as a joke (VERY OBVIOUSLY), and i nominated nick. i forgot to nominate adriel sadly, even though he was sitting beside me.
so they chased us out before casting the votes in class. the main reason is of course, so that we dont know how many votes we got, but that isnt really effecting, cos the doors have window panes and we could peek through them to see. so anyway, the results of the votes are as follows, in order of nomination:
Kenneth: 2 votes
Clement: 8 votes
Eugene: 7 votes
Samuel: 0 votes (what a shocker ;D haha)
Qin Xiang: 3 votes
Brian: 3 votes
Nicholas: 1 vote
so then it was time to allocate the roles, and since i had the highest votes, i was made the chairman... outside the classroom i was like going, "NOOOOOOOO!!!!" cos honestly i did want to be in the class comm, but i wasnt planning on being chairman :S i was hoping for a spot slightly more low key, such as secretary, welfare rep, or even vice-chair at least... such a disappointment.
well next was eugene, which was really funny cos he was given vice-chairman heehee. i wonder if he'll be the next brian wang, getting fired from vice-chairman post after 1 month. i dont think that'll happen though, and its kinda nice to have him helping me around (: he's a real ernest helper too, and he's really nice. just that he may be talkative, but oh well, that's what makes him him.
so anyway, qin xiang was given welfare and treasurer, brian was given sports rep and kenneth was given secretary.
after that everyone started calling me, "chairman" on purpose, obviously trying to irritate me. grrrrr....
so we did the seating plan (which i greatly and still do disapprove of), having a total of 7 columns, averaging 3 to 4 people per column.
then we moved on the OEP matters, collected passports, all those boring stuff...
so when the teachers finally left, i started working on the class contact list. its those kinda stuff i love doing, compiling info from everyong in the class... thats why i stole the job from kenneth, who just did the duty roster in the end. duty roster isnt that fun, just that the way the duties were allocated was so random that all the shortees ended up getting whiteboard duty... they'll have to jump to reach the top of the whiteboard, hahaha.
after the long stretch of free time and recess, we had to go for some OEP briefing, and we got a glimpse of the other classes that were also going to desaru. it was pretty boring... the man doing the presentation was being corny...
well anyway, after that briefing was over, we found ourselves bring led to chapel which we were sure would be bound to be boring... like the one last year. well just like any chapel service, we started with a hymn. then it was followed by a speech by dr ong, intruducing all the new teachers, the senior admin, the HODs, DyHODs, etc. eugene timed it, and i forgot how long it was, but i know it was longer than 50min, shorter than 60min. amazing isnt it.. i thought it was more than an hour at least... i actually almost fell asleep twice XD well lots of people did anyway... cant blame me. after the speech was over, we sang a closing hymn and the benediction was given. end of service, end of school!
but that didnt mean i could leave just yet. i had to go for bb. i went to the sac, ate a brownie, changed to my boots and went off with kenneth. kenneth's tongue of the shoe was sewn to the sole of his boot, so he had some trouble for a while haha. luckily somebody had a scissors and the thread was cut off. he blamed some malay cobbler who he deemed inexperienced and stupid.
we had a whole time of drill, practicing for bb day. it was fun in a strange way... but i really liked it. i havent been doing drill for a long time since the holidays... haha. need to brush up.
anyway, the first day of school started on a high note, progressed to a bore, but then went back to plain great (: i think i love school...
